Canoeing that Buffalo River, Summer 06

This adventure took place on the Lower Buffalo river near the border of Arkansas and Missouri. After a 10 hour drive to North Little Rock, we stayed the night with Erik's cousin Falsto and girlfriend Kasey. Two hours north, we put in. We Paddled 9 miles in the first half day, and Falsto and Kasey left the treck there (they had to work the next morning). We camped on a bluff overlooking the Buffalo river, and racoons (as well as other unidentified scary sounding animals) got into our trash. We contenued by paddeling 15 miles the next day, camping on a sandbar. We finished the last leg of the trip by paddeling 9 miles to where the Buffalo meets the White River, and the speed picks up. At the intersection, Erik and I decided to take a swim, but being that the water was 45 degrees, we didn't swim for more than a minute! Toledo Bend, Summer 06*

This adventure was at Toledo Bend, a mammoth 250,000 acre reservoir known for it's legendary fishing. It is situated on the Texas/Louisiana border. We spent three days trying to catch boatloads of fish, but, to our dismay, my younger brother was the only one to catch fish. Tried and true fishing methods failed us, so I believe someone told the fish that we were coming. The boat died on us during the last morning of fishing, Dad is seen above working on the motor. I believe that I have been on more fishing trips with him in which he has to work on the outboard than not, so it wouldn't be a fishing trip without him cussing at the boat. Those in attendance were My younger brother Will, my father Lee, My Grandfather Bruiser, and Me.
